Avi Nardia

Major Avi Nardia (IDF Res.) is one of the leading official instructors for the Israeli Army and Israeli Police in the field of Counter Terrorism and CQB (Close Quarters Battle). He specializes in training Special Forces, counter terrorism units, military, law enforcement, and civilians (including disabled society) all over the world in self defense as well as both modern and traditional martial arts. He served in a special police unit as an intelligence team member and as a defensive tacticts/CQB instructor. In his 24 years of service in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), he earned the rank of Major, took part in the "Shlom Hagalil" war, serving 3 years outside of Israel's borders.
Major Nardia has trained law enforcement agencies and military units all over the world, including but not limited to Police Patrol, Correcttion Officers, SWAT, SRT, SERT, as well as Army, Marine, and Special Forces.
In Israel, he taught defensive tactics and operational behavior at the Operational Police Academy, which is charged with training the country's entire police force.
He is the only instructor to be an official instructor for the Israeli Army, the Israeli Police, and the Israeli Counter Terror units.

Experience With Civilians

Major Nardia specialized in teaching civilians Kapap at Tel-Aviv University with Lt. Colonel Chaim Peer, one of the founders of Kapap. He also taught at Bar-Ilan University and Spivak Handicapped Center.

Courses ranged from Traditional Martial Arts to Olympic Fencing and Theatrical Combat at Tel Aviv University. He was also involved with the Israeli Social Service program in teaching Kapap-Self Defense to battered women and rape victims.

After receiving certification as an Athletic Trainer from the Wingate Institute, he was the Physiotherapist /Athletic Trainer for the Israeli National Rugby team for five years, and participated in the World Rugby Sevens Games in Uruguay in 1995 and 5 International Macabia Games. Major Nardia also spent two years as the Athletic Trainer of the Herzliya National League Handball and Basketball teams, dealing with various sport injuries.


Yew Chye Teo

Yew Chye is an avid martial artist who has been a practitioner for over 20 years. He holds a black belt in TaeKwondo, and has received formal training in Savate (French kick-boxing), Wing Chun (Southern Shaolin Kungfu), and is a certified Instructor in Dynamic Combat Method (DCM), and SAMBO (Russian unarmed combat) by the Asian SAMBO Federation. Yew Chye is also a member of Amok!, the South African based edged weapon specialist organization/ system. During his national service/ reservist, Yew Chye was a Company 2IC with an operational unit, 3 Singapore Infantry Regiment and has served as a battle lion staff officer as deputy S1 (Manpower) and deputy S2 (Intelligence) as well.

Yew Chye is a certified KAPAP Instructor (level 3) and the principal instructor for Kapap Academy Singapore. Under Sinsei Avi's mandate, Yew Chye is the official/ exclusive representative for Avi Nardia Kapap Combatives for Singapore, China/ Hong Kong and Taiwan. He is also a certified instructor in the use of the Sabre Law Enforcement Aerosol Projectors (pepper sprays), and a certified Protective Security Details (PSD)/ Executive Protection operative by Elite Force International. He has introduced Kapap into several schools in Singapore and has trained over 5,000 to date in personal protection. As part of his life-long study of martial arts, he has studied Brazilian Jiu-jitsu (BJJ) under the Renzo Gracie Academy (Evolve MMA, Singapore). He is currently a student with the Gracie Academy (US), and has been awarded a blue belt by the world's top grappling school in BJJ. The Gracie Academy (US) traced its lineage directly from the founder of Brazilian/ Gracie Jiu-jitsu, the late GrandMaster Helio Gracie himself. He is currently a certified instructor (on probation) in the Gracie Combatives and runs the first Gracie training centre in the Asia Pacific region. The Gracie Combatives is a street oriented ground grappling programme specially developed, and in use by elite military and law enforcement units in US such as the SEALS, FBI, CIA, US Secret Service, US Marines, Coast Guards and so on.

Yew Chye served as the Chairman of the LifeSkills Committee for the Boys Brigade in Singapore for 2004 and 2005. He was also a Council Member/Acting Treasurer of the Singapore Psychological Society (SPS) in 2005, and a Life Member of the Stanford University Alumni and the EDB Society. He has served on the Board of the EDB Society from 2005 to current in the capacity of Acting Secretary and Board Member. He was the Founding Vice-Chairman, and later Chairman of the Singapore Ergonomics Society from 1986 to 1991. He is the CEO of a research and training company, the Centre for Cognitive Technologies Pte Ltd.
