Avi Nardia

Major Avi Nardia (IDF Res.) is one of the leading official instructors for the Israeli Army and Israeli Police in the field of Counter Terrorism and CQB (Close Quarters Battle). He specializes in training Special Forces, counter terrorism units, military, law enforcement, and civilians (including disabled society) all over the world in self defense as well as both modern and traditional martial arts. He served in a special police unit as an intelligence team member and as a defensive tacticts/CQB instructor. In his 24 years of service in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), he earned the rank of Major, took part in the "Shlom Hagalil" war, serving 3 years outside of Israel's borders.
Major Nardia has trained law enforcement agencies and military units all over the world, including but not limited to Police Patrol, Correcttion Officers, SWAT, SRT, SERT, as well as Army, Marine, and Special Forces.
In Israel, he taught defensive tactics and operational behavior at the Operational Police Academy, which is charged with training the country's entire police force.
He is the only instructor to be an official instructor for the Israeli Army, the Israeli Police, and the Israeli Counter Terror units.

Experience With Civilians

Major Nardia specialized in teaching civilians Kapap at Tel-Aviv University with Lt. Colonel Chaim Peer, one of the founders of Kapap. He also taught at Bar-Ilan University and Spivak Handicapped Center.

Courses ranged from Traditional Martial Arts to Olympic Fencing and Theatrical Combat at Tel Aviv University. He was also involved with the Israeli Social Service program in teaching Kapap-Self Defense to battered women and rape victims.

After receiving certification as an Athletic Trainer from the Wingate Institute, he was the Physiotherapist /Athletic Trainer for the Israeli National Rugby team for five years, and participated in the World Rugby Sevens Games in Uruguay in 1995 and 5 International Macabia Games. Major Nardia also spent two years as the Athletic Trainer of the Herzliya National League Handball and Basketball teams, dealing with various sport injuries.

Yew Chye Teo

Yew Chye is an avid martial artist who has been a practitioner for over 20 years. He holds a black belt in TaeKwondo, and has received formal training in Savate (French kick-boxing), Wing Chun (Southern Shaolin Kungfu), and is a certified Instructor in Dynamic Combat Method (DCM), and SAMBO (Russian unarmed combat) by the Asian SAMBO Federation. Yew Chye is also a member of Amok!, the South African based edged weapon specialist organization/ system. During his national service/ reservist, Yew Chye was a Company 2IC with an operational unit, 3 Singapore Infantry Regiment and has served as a battle lion staff officer as deputy S1 (Manpower) and deputy S2 (Intelligence) as well.

Yew Chye is a certified KAPAP Instructor (level 3) and the principal instructor for Kapap Academy Singapore. Under Sinsei Avi's mandate, Yew Chye is the official/ exclusive representative for Avi Nardia Kapap Combatives for Singapore, China/ Hong Kong and Taiwan. He is also a certified instructor in the use of the Sabre Law Enforcement Aerosol Projectors (pepper sprays), and a certified Protective Security Details (PSD)/ Executive Protection operative by Elite Force International. He has introduced Kapap into several schools in Singapore and has trained over 5,000 to date in personal protection. As part of his life-long study of martial arts, he has studied Brazilian Jiu-jitsu (BJJ) under the Renzo Gracie Academy (Evolve MMA, Singapore). He is currently a student with the Gracie Academy (US), and has been awarded a blue belt by the world's top grappling school in BJJ. The Gracie Academy (US) traced its lineage directly from the founder of Brazilian/ Gracie Jiu-jitsu, the late GrandMaster Helio Gracie himself. He is currently a certified instructor (on probation) in the Gracie Combatives and runs the first Gracie training centre in the Asia Pacific region. The Gracie Combatives is a street oriented ground grappling programme specially developed, and in use by elite military and law enforcement units in US such as the SEALS, FBI, CIA, US Secret Service, US Marines, Coast Guards and so on.

Yew Chye served as the Chairman of the LifeSkills Committee for the Boys Brigade in Singapore for 2004 and 2005. He was also a Council Member/Acting Treasurer of the Singapore Psychological Society (SPS) in 2005, and a Life Member of the Stanford University Alumni and the EDB Society. He has served on the Board of the EDB Society from 2005 to current in the capacity of Acting Secretary and Board Member. He was the Founding Vice-Chairman, and later Chairman of the Singapore Ergonomics Society from 1986 to 1991. He is the CEO of a research and training company, the Centre for Cognitive Technologies Pte Ltd.

Amos Kng

Amos Kng has been a martial artist for over a decade - having received formal training in Taekwondo (black tip), Wing Chun and in Police unarmed combat before he became a Kapap Instructor (level 1). He is also certified to use a range of weapons such as .38, M16 and MP5.

He served his National Service with the Police and attained the rank of Inspector (1992), before being appointed as Special Assistant to the Commanding Officer (A Division, Central Police Division). In 2000, he was appointed as Officer Commanding (OC) of Alpha KINS Unit 7 - an operational ready Reservist combat unit tasked to protect Singapore's key installations. This unit won the Best Deployed Unit and Best Operational Unit Awards in 2006/7. In 2007, Amos was promoted to the rank of Assistant Superintendent in 2007.

Amos is a Partner and Head of Security for Kapap Academy (Singapore). He is responsible for the provision of Closed/ Executive Protection of VIPs, and Security Audits of Buildings and Sites for our clients in the region.

Roger Chan

Roger is a Kapap Level 1 instructor certified by Sinsei/Major Avi Nardia himself. He is also an Impact Weapon instructor in the use of knives and sticks, and in his youth he had prior martial arts training in Tae-kwondo. He serves as an Assistant Instructor in the Kapap Level 1 instructorship and is a partner at the Kapap Academy Singapore.

He is currently enrolled with the world renowned Gracie Academy (US)/ University where he is now studying for his blue belt, and to be a Gracie Combatives Instructor. At the same time, he is also training towards becoming a Tac-Fit Instructor - a world renowned tactical fitness system developed by Scott Sonnon for martial artists and elite soldiers. In civilian work, he currently works in the finance sector and deals with investment related work.

Ivan Choo

Ivan is a Kapap Level 1 instructor since 2010. He has over 20 years of background in martial arts - having attained a black belt in Full contact Ashihara Karate, and has formal training in Chinese Kickboxing, Wing Chun Gung Fu, Tae-kwondo, Jeet Kun Do, Judo, Chin Na and Arnis. As an avid martial artist, Ivan's life long quest to learn realistic self defense skills has led him to be part of the Kapap brotherhood due to its focus on realism. Ivan is currently enrolled with the world renowned Gracie Academy (US)/ University where he is now studying for his blue belt, and to be a Gracie Combatives Instructor. Ivan is currently also undergoing training with the Kapap Academy Singapore to be a Kapap Weapons instructor in knife/ machete, and knife grappling. In civilian work, he is a Superintendent in the Aircraft Maintenance Industry.

Ryan Yap

Ryan is a Kapap level 1 instructor certified by Sinsei/ Major Avi Nardia in 2009. He earned his blue belt with the world renowned Gracie Academy (US)/ University, and will be training to be an instructor in the Gracie Combatives (US) - the official self defense programme adopted by the US Marines, FBI, CIA, US Coast Guards etc. Ryan is also a Kapap Weapons Instructor in the use of knives and machetes, and knife grappling. He is an Assistant Instructor in the Kapap Level 1 instructorship held bi-annually at the Kapap Academy Singapore. Ryan is the co-Director of the Gracie Combatives (US) programme in Singapore.

Russell Yap

Russell is a Kapap level 1 instructor certified by Sinsei/ Major Avi Nardia. After earning his blue belt with the world renowned Gracie Academy (US)/ University, Russell is now undergoing training to be an instructor in the Gracie Combatives (US) - the official self defense programme adopted by the US Marines, FBI, CIA, US Coast Guards etc. Russell is also a Kapap Weapons Instructor in the use of knives and machetes, and knife grappling. He is an Assistant Instructor in the Kapap Level 1 instructorship held bi-annually at the Kapap Academy Singapore. Russell is the co-Director of the Gracie Combatives (US) programme in Singapore, and for the Kapap Kids Personal Protection Programme.

Qin Yunquan

Yunquan is a Kapap level 1 instructor certified by Sinsei/ Major Avi Nardia himself. Specialising in ladies and children self defense, Yunquan teaches the use of specially selected bio-mechanics and principles of engagement that are critical for a smaller person to defend against a much larger opponent. Training for ladies and children need also be specially context-based, and include the use of realistic assault scenarios. She instructs regularly at AWARE (Singapore's premier ladies interest group), and Girls Brigade in personal protection skills.

Yunquan is also the Assistant Instructor in Kapap level 1 instructorships held at Kapap Academy Singapore. She is also a Weapons instructor in the use of knives and machetes, and in our unique street grappling with knife programme. Yunquan is currently studying with the world renowned Gracie Academy (US)/ University for her blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Her previous martial arts background was in Wushu.
